At Floor Factory we hate talking about the end of summer… But what a summer it’s been! Plenty of dry weather and sunshine has meant the season has been full of days with the patio doors wide open, garden gatherings, paddling pools, sizzling BBQs and more. However, what toll has this taken on our floors? After all that running in and out, dust blowing in open windows and doors, and general wear from heavier foot traffic, your floors might be looking a little worse for wear. Have no fear! Now is the perfect time for some end of summer floor care. Here's how to give your floors a deep clean.
Flooring Deep Clean
Deep cleaning is easier than you think. For hard flooring like LVT and wood, a thorough sweep and vacuum may be all you need. Depending on your floor type, follow this with a good mop using a suitable floor cleaner. Top tip: If you have solid wood flooring or laminate, you may need to be careful about the amount of water you use on your floors to prevent swelling. It may be better to spot clean rather than mop.
For carpets and soft flooring, thoroughly vacuum the area then proceed to tackle any stains or trodden in dirt, use water to moisten and loosen the stain before blotting with a clean cloth. You may wish to proceed to a more thorough clean using a carpet cleaner or by enlisting the help of a professional surface. Always ensure to check the correct floor care cleaning procedure for your floor type.
Autumn Floor Protection
Now your floors are spotlessly clean, get ready to protect them throughout autumn and winter. Doormats, runners or washable rugs can be a great way to protect high traffic areas and reduce floor cleaning. Removing shoes at the entry points of your home for all family members and guests will also keep your floors cleaner and increase the longevity of your flooring.
Warmer Home with Underfloor Heating
As we continue to prepare for the cooler weather, now is a great time to think about warmer flooring. Underfloor heating provides an added layer of comfort and luxury to your home, distributing heat evenly and efficiently throughout the whole room. Underfloor heating can be installed with most flooring types we offer at Floor Factory and retrofit. If you’ve been considering making the change, the end of summer is a great time to explore underfloor heating installation.
