Fabulous Parquet Laying Patterns

Which Will You Choose?

There’s something about parquet flooring that instantly makes a room feel more stylish. Maybe it’s the craftsmanship, the texture, or the way the patterns naturally draw your eye across the space. Whatever the reason, parquet flooring has remained a favourite for centuries — and it’s easy to see why. From classic period homes to modern apartments, these beautifully arranged wood patterns can completely transform an interior.

Here at Floor Factory, we love parquet flooring and are experts at laying patterns. In this latest blog we will discuss some of the most popular laying patterns and parquet flooring brands so you can make the right choice for your home.

Herringbone and it’s Chevron Alternatives

When thinking of parquet flooring, herringbone flooring designs are usually the first to spring to mind. Herringbone flooring is a timeless pattern made by laying rectangular blocks in a zigzag formation. It’selegant without feeling too formal and works just as well in contemporary spaces as it does in traditional homes. Herringbone is also great for making smaller rooms feel a little wider and more open. There are also close alternatives to herringbone flooring such as double herringbone or chevron flooring.

How is chevron flooring different to herringbone flooring you ask? Well chevron flooring is when the flooring boards are cut at an angle so they meet to form clean, continuous “v” shapes. Chevron flooring is becoming a very popular look with the overall look feeling slightly more modern and polished than herringbone.

Live Like You’re in the Palace of Versailles

If you’re after something with a little more drama, Versailles parquet panels are hard to beat. Inspired by the flooring used in the famous French palace, these intricate square panels create a truly luxurious look. They instantly add character and work beautifully in larger rooms or period properties where you really want the floor to stand out.

Weave Elegance Throughout Your Home

For a softer, more vintage feel, basket weave parquet is another beautiful option. This pattern uses small groups of planks laid in alternating directions to create the effect of woven wood. It’s subtle, full of character and perfect for adding warmth to smaller spaces.

One of Amtico’s latest patterns is a variation of this - the broad weave design is a beautiful alternative to basket weave flooring. We love the more geometrical feel it gives.
